About Eddy Bugnut

Eddy Bugnut, affectionately known as Bug, is a Canadian record producer, and the founder of Bugnut Records

Bug’s music journey began at Douglas Academy of Music while in high school. His early exposure to music education paved the way for his pursuit of excellence in music. After graduating, Bug’s commitment to music led him to become an instructor at the Academy.

His quest for innovation took him to the Institute of Communication Arts in Vancouver, where he studied commercial music performance and audio production. Armed with a diverse and comprehensive skill set, Bug played a pivotal role in co-founding the dynamic rock ensemble, Major Goodvibes. Merging the spirit of classic hard rock with the edginess of punk, the band captivated audiences with their infectious songs and high-energy performances.

Bugnut Records was then born, marking Bug’s official entry into the world of music production. The label’s debut release featured Major Goodvibes, and showcased the skills Bug developed while working as an engineer at Vancouver’s historical Jonestown Sound. The label’s influence continued to grow as Bug’s collaborations expanded, culminating in a rich catalogue of music.

Prior to his full immersion in music production, Bug spent twenty years on the road as a touring musician. His travels took him to diverse audiences around the world, performing over 300 shows annually, revealing his passion for live performance. He has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in Canadian music, and has also performed with numerous bestselling international acts.

Bug transitioned from touring to focus on Bugnut Records, breathing life into the label once again with two solo albums, “Heavy Medicine” and “Poems for Skids.” These albums showcase his versatility and depth as an artist and is a reflection of his multifaceted musical identity. His prowess has expanded to collaborations with artists like 22nd Century, ADHD, Punk Rods and Robert Graves, further solidifying Bugnut Records’ reputation as a creative hub.
